Sandwich Fire Brigade visited the museum on Sunday 6th March.
The visit was made to commemorate the retirement, after 41 years service, of Fireman Kevin Devison.
The team were photographed on Sandwich’s 1869 horse drawn Merryweather fire engine which attended many fires in the locality before being retired just before the 1st World War. It was temporarily brought out of retirement in 1913 on the occasion of the great fire at Waldershare mansion. It is now cared for by Dover Transport Museum.
