August’s Bike of the Month is Royal Enfield

The history of this great British manufacturer dates to 1901 when the first motorcycle was designed by Bob Walker Smith and produced at the Redditch factory in Worcestershire.
In 1932 the legendary “Bullet ” motorcycle was born and shown for the first time at London’s Olympia Motorcycle show in three versions 250,350 and 500cc models.
Royal Enfield bikes remain in production today in India by Madras Motors, a connection to the Redditch based business which dates from 1952 when 500 bikes were ordered for the Indian army,
We have two Royal Enfield motorcycles owned by our volunteers on display this month. A 1955 single cylinder 350 cc and a 1954 250cc Clipper, so do come along and enjoy a day at our museum and take a look at these classic bikes.
